The Reminiscence Series deals with my private journey in re-visiting my past.

I grew up in a large Irish-American family in the Midwest. Drawing on that experience, I collected old family photographs and letters and transferred them to a variety of surfaces ranging from plexiglass, acetate, mylar, bristol board, foam core, paper, raised wooden panels and a Japanese scroll book.

This process involved the slow building and careful layering of images and letters. This overlaying offers a translucency from multiple sources which appear to mysteriously float in and out of each other throughout the collage, resulting in a lyrical expression which is both delicate and direct.

My invitation to linger and contemplate these collages may offer the viewer a challenge as well as a comfort. These works evoke a simple yet powerful message that the past is never dead, and that "home" is not just a place but also period in time.
